Are you up for a challenge?  In celebration of the 2010 Winter Olympics we are holding our own friendly knitting competition!

The rules are:
1)  you must choose a knitting project that is a challenge for you AND register with Bliss Yarns by Thursday, February 11th
2)  you can cast on for your project once the flame is lit during the opening ceremonies
3)  you must be finished with your project before the flame is extinguished during the closing ceremonies
4)  you can bring your finished project in or email us a photo by 8am Monday, March 1st

If you complete the above you will be entered into a drawing to win either a $100 gold gift certificate, a $50 silver gift certificate, or a $25 bronze gift certificate.

This Thursday evening during our regular sit 'n stitch we will get the challenge started with some snacks and swatching!  If you have not picked out your project, come and let us help you find the perfect one.

new goodies

We received Namaste's newest bag - the "Monroe"!  The reviews have been great!  It comes in six great colors and the interior has two dividers and all sorts of pockets.  You can carry around many projects and accessories.  Due to demand, Namaste also debuted a wallet Winter.  They come in the same great colors of the bags, and will be perfect if you like to combine your knitting bag and purse.  We have the bags in stock and the wallets are on the way!

hats for hope

Hats for hope is a charity started by Olivia Meers, a sophomore at an area high school and a Bliss Yarns knitter, who is taking the love of knitting and giving to a group of orphans in China.  Olivia will be traveling with several students from her high school on a mission trip to Maria's Big House of Hope in Louyang, China.  The orphanage is dedicated to saving the lives of challenged orphans by providing medical assistance and surgeries for those in need.  Olivia began her efforts in November to collect hats for children aged preemie to five years of age.  Thus far she has received donations from across the USA as well as England and Austrailia via the Ravelry group "Hats for Hope."
On Sunday February 7th, we will gather to give the last big push for donations by providing a little fellowship as well as fun and games.  There will be prizes for:  Cutest Hat (we all get to vote), Fastest Hat (we provide the pattern - you provide DK weight fiber, 4mm needles and nimble fingers) and Most Hats Donated.  Several of you have been droping off creations and those will go towards the "Most Hats Donated" prize, so keep 'em comin' - you have until 5pm, February 7th.
Mark you calendars for Sunday, February 7th, there will be many tiny warm heads that will be glad that you did!
