cast on for christmas event
Come and join us on Sunday, December 6th, as we cast on a project for Christmas. We will have a large selection of the staff's favorite holiday knits on hand that will take anywhere from two days to two weeks to complete. We will offer suggestions including the amount of time and cost involved so that you can pick a project and get started that afternoon. Bring your needles and plan to stay and knit with friends. We will also have sweet treats and coffee on hand. We hope to see you there.

charity knitting

We a little housekeeping to take care of by way of announcements...
First, we will be open on the Friday after Thanksgiving from 10-5, our normal hours. Several people have asked if we have any specials for the day. You all know we like to be spontaneous, so you will have to come by and see!
Second, we have two wonderful opportunities for you to contibute warm hats and mittens for someone in need this winter season. We are gathering adult and children size hats and mittens to be delivered to the Nashville Rescue Mission. The Mission is located in Nashville and helps individuals and families by providing food, clothing and shelter. Of course handknit hats and mittens are great, but we are also accepting those purchased.
We are also gathering infant hats to be delivered to Maria's House of Hope, an orphanage for special needs children in China. This orphanage was built and is run by Show Hope Foundation. One of our knitters, Olivia, will be traveling to China next Spring with a group that will spend time helping to care for the children. All sizes, especially preemie, are needed. You can get more information at her Hats for Hope group on Ravelry.
I did want to post a photo of my latest knitting obsession. It is the Ten Stitch Blanket! My next photo will be taken on a lighter background. The pattern is by Frankie Brown and can be found on Ravelry for free! I am using Noro's Yuzen and am really happy with the results. I am four skeins, at 121 yards each, into the project and it now measures 21" x 22", unblocked. It is super easy. Once you master the short row corners, you have memorized the pattern!

malabrigo arrived
If I do not hurry and get this post done, our Malabrigo will be
sold out again! Last week we received some Worsted, Lace and the new Twist. I went in Monday to pull myself a couple of skeins of Twist in my new favorite color - Plena (to the right) - and it was already sold out! We are currently stocked in everyone's favorite Churra - which is the lovely brown and blue. I made sure to order plenty. The good news is ... we are waiting on more to arrive. We expect more Worsted and Sock to arrive very soon.
I did want to let you know that we have started the Bliss Yarns Wish List again. When you come in next be sure and get your list started. We will also send an email, to anyone that you request, providing them the details of your list. How easier can shopping be for all of those husbands out there?

evening of bliss
Our Evening of Bliss was a big success! Our guests arrived at 6:30 and began by enjoying some delicious appetizers. Twelve different yarns were sampled, including many new Fall releases.
After sampling there was lots of shopping. For that night only you could purchase any of the yarns sampled at 20% off.

At the end of the evening everyone left full with their mini yarn cakes in a new Della Q project bag. If you were not able to attend, stay tuned here for the announcement of our next evening of bliss!
