new animal print flat feet & alchemy's juniper
Last week we received new Flat Feet animal prints. For those unfamiliar, this sock yarn comes in a pre-knitted "flat" which you then unravel
as you knit. What is even more interesting is that you have no idea how your socks will look when completed. But know in advance, they will not look like the "flat"! Only shops that are part of the dyer's Sock of the Month club received the animal prints and we received only one of eight different prints. If you want to take one home, you will need to act fast.
Also in last week, Alchemy's new sock yarn. Known as Juniper, this 100% superfine merino comes in 232 yard, 50 gram skeins. The colors are brilliant with equally brilliant names, like The Night Air and Forest Waltz, and we have many in stock! I have been unable to capture a just photo of the colors, so you will have to come by and see for yourself!

kate jacobs at borders
Kate Jacobs will be reading from and signing copies of her book Comfort Food tonight at Borders on Franklin Road in Brentwood. Knitters may be more familiar with her other titles - The Friday Night Knitting Club and Knit Two! She is scheduled to begin at 6 pm, which is during our regular Thursday Sit 'n Stitch from 5-8 pm. We would like to attend and hope that everyone will join us. Think of it as a relocation of Sit 'n Stitch. ]Bring your copy of her knitting titles and she may just sign those too!

the latest arrivals & the PROVEN benefits of knitting

After a long wait, Malabrigo finally arrived. We received lots of worsted and a bit of sock - mostly solids. We expect all of the sock colors, so stay tuned. That shipment also included Malabrigo's first pattern book. Be sure to check in out when you are in the store.
We also received a huge shipment from Araucania. Chacabuco - the one I can hardly wait to work with - is a 100% pima cotton with a thick/thin texture. At 3 stitches to the inch on a number 10, most anything you choose to knit will move along quickly. I have decided on the color you see here, I now need to decide what to do with it. I am thinking of a summer cardi. Also new to us and Araucania is Lonco. It is a 100% mercerized cotton with a gauge of 6.5 - 7 stitches to the inch on a number 2 or 3. It is dyed in solids and multis and the colors are very bold and saturated. Beautiful to look at! Lastly, we replenished our Ranco Solid and Multy. It is considered a sock yarn, but Emily is currently working on the Forest Canopy Shawl using Ranco Multy and it is beautiful. I will post pics very soon.
