christmas knit-a-gift-a-long

As promised here are pics of the first two projects completed in our Christmas Knit-A-Gift-A-Long.  Although mine is gold, this is the Fuchsia Felted Bowl.  I used Cascade's Pastaza.  It felts so beautifully.  I also added a bit of ribbon to the rim which seems to dress it up.  Emily completed the Cozy Socks for Kids in no time at all.  She used Lorna's Laces Worsted which is perfect for anything that needs to go to the washer.

It is never too late to join us.  Our Christmas Knit-A-Gift-A-Long meets the first Saturday of each month at 3pm.  We all pick our yarn for the project of the month and get started.  You will need a copy of 101 Designer One Skein Wonders which we have on hand.  It is only 116 days until Christmas!

last stimulus wednesday will be the best yet
Because of all of our great customers our Stimulus Wednesdays have been a huge success.  As our way of saying thank you, the final Stimulus Wednesday will be the best yet.  We will run some of our best sales again, as well as new ones.For every $20 spent, you will be entered into drawings for giveaways such as classes, books and YARN.  Enjoy refreshments and friends and help us celebrate!
On another note, our Christmas Knit-A-Long is moving along.  For those unfamiliar with our KAL, we have chosen six projects to complete from 101 Designer One Skein Wonders.  We meet on the first Saturday of each month at 3pm, pick out supplies and get knitting.  So far we have made the Fuchsia Felted Bowl and the Cozy Socks for Kids.  I promise to post a photo of both this week.  Two presents down and four more - at least for the KAL- to go!  Anyone is welcome to join at anytime.  There are only 123 days until Christmas.

spinning and weaving at the TN state museum

This Saturday is "Spinning and Weaving Day" at the Tennessee State Museum.  From 10:30 am to 4 pm you can watch historic spinning and weaving techniques led by two Tennessee master teachers.  You can get all of the details at www.tnmuseum.org.  This should be fun and interesting for all of us fiber lovers!

weaving

I took a class last June titled "Weave a Scarf in a Day" not believing that I could really complete a scarf in a day.  I can honestly say it can be done!  We recently added weaving to the class schedule, so you can learn too.
There are different types of weaving looms, but most would agree the most simple is a rigid heddle loom.  Pictured here is a 15" Schacht Flip loom (rigid heddle loom) and stand.  We have several different types and sizes in stock for you to choose from, starting at $135.  You can weave with most any kind of yarn to create scarves and shawls, table runners, and even "fabric" to sew into clothing.  We have a class scheduled for this Saturday,08/15, and another in September.  You can get all of the class details at here.
